Landscape Photography: On location with Thomas Heaton

Recently I had been surprised with a lovely, thoughtful gift from my fiancé " Landscape Photography: On Location with Thomas Heaton". Being a supporter and a fan of Heaton's work for several years, from the age of sixteen I had burst with excitement!

Knowing the price of the book made me anxious, pondering if it was going to be worth it...

The moment my finger tips touched the front cover I already knew it was. The detail of the book and sleek and professional. The introduction was personal bringing the reader closer to Heaton, making the reader feel like the know Heaton in real life.

Throughout the book Heaton describes the Highs and lows of being a landscape photographer from suffering altitude sickness, unpredictable weather conditions and malfunctioning equipment.

Heaton goes into description who had joined him on that day, Location and weather conditions as well as the time he was up and what time he went out to shoot, how long the trip was and how difficult/easy it was to get to the desired destination. Thomas Heaton also includes the model of his camera, shutter speed, exposure (ISO) and aperture as well if he used ND filters or if polarizers were used.

I have yet to finish the book but my opinion so far is that it is worth every penny. Watching his videos and seeing the image is nice but being able to see the images printed and in physical form is amazing.
